What is the Gleadless Valley nature trail?

Gleadless Valley has a lovely nature trail through Rolleston Woods, which is full of interactive elements for children to do. These is:

Rubbing stumps - where children can do rubbings of the animals that live in the local woodland

Fairy doors - to find fairy doors that are hidden along the trail, up high.

The clearing in the woods - there is a medium-sized clearing just off the trail that also houses some more fairy doors, but these are miniature doors and they can be found down low.

Yes, you can easily take prams on the nature trail walk and this has been achieved many times with families that have used the area.

After walking the nature trail quite a few times, we have found it best to start the trail from Overend close entrance to the woodland. This is a great meeting place at the beginning, with ample parking areas for those who drive to the entrance, and a nice walk up through the woodland.

The trail is around a 20 to 40 minute walk, depending on how fast you walk, and the trail leads to a bridge at the bottom end of Ironside, or if you end up taking a different turn at the end of the trail this will take you up to the field behind Herdings bus terminus.
